“A NEW BEGINNING”
Daily Devotional - Based on 2 Corinthians 5:17

Verse of the Day
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
In Christ, we begin again together.
Biblical Context:
The apostle Paul writes this letter to the church in Corinth to remind them that life in Christ is not merely an external change, but a deep transformation of the heart. Corinth was a city marked by sin, idolatry, and moral disorder. Many believers came from that background, carrying guilt, mistakes, and old ways of living.
Paul assures them that being in Christ means they are no longer defined by who they used to be, but by what God has done in them. The phrase “old things have passed away” does not mean the past never existed; it means it no longer has power over our identity or our future. God does not patch up the old life—He makes something completely new.
Teaching:
A new beginning requires a conscious decision. God offers grace, but He calls us to walk in it. Our failures, wounds, and mistakes do not determine what God can do with us. When we are in Christ, our story does not end in pain—it is transformed into testimony.
As a family, as a community, and as children of God, we are called to leave behind patterns that bind us and to embrace the new life the Lord offers. God not only restores individuals; He renews homes, relationships, and entire generations.
Reflection:
What do we need to leave behind as a family or as a group? Consider attitudes, words, habits, resentments, or decisions that have affected our walk with God and with one another. Are there burdens we continue to carry even though God has already called us to release them?
What do we want to begin together today? A new beginning may mean more time with God, healthier communication, genuine forgiveness, spiritual discipline, or decisions aligned with God’s Word. What practical steps can we take starting today?
What change is God asking us to make to walk in His will? Sometimes God calls us to uncomfortable but necessary changes. Let us listen humbly and ask: Are we willing to obey, even if it means stepping out of our comfort zone?
Take a moment to talk, listen, and pray together, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide this time.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You because in You we have a new beginning. We declare that the old is left behind and that You make all things new in our lives. Renew our minds, our hearts, and our family. Give us the courage to let go of the past and the faith to walk in the new life You give us.
In Jesus’ name.

What do we decide to leave behind?
What do we believe God is beginning in us today?
